Introducing the PRIDE 2019 Collection— come and get your queer gear! PRIDE is making a fabulous comeback with five new retro inspired designs. As both LGBTQ+ community members and allies, the DNDL team is here to say: We’re here. We’re queer. Get used to it! This collection is an effort to honor those that came before us, celebrate those who are here now, and forge a more inclusive future for those who will come after us.
We will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the OUT Foundation, an organization that seeks to remove the barriers that block LGBTQ+ individuals access to and participation in health and wellness activities.
Queer love was still illegal during the Summer of Love back in 1967 San Francisco, so while history paints a pie-eyed picture of peace and free love, that was not the case for many. However, around the same time, the underground LGBTQ community was coalescing into what would become the Gay Liberation movement. On top of that, a number of queer organizations, including but not limited to the Daughters of Bilitis and the Tavern Guild, already existed and were paving the way for the Stonewall Riots and other acts of revolutionary activism.
We are rewriting history with the Summer of Love Racer Crop— we are honoring those who could not love freely in 1967, those who gave their lives and wellbeing to fight for free queer love, and those who today still face discrimination for loving who they love.
