Introducing the PRIDE 2019 Collection— come and get your queer gear! PRIDE is making a fabulous comeback with five new retro inspired designs. As both LGBTQ+ community members and allies, the DNDL team is here to say: We’re here. We’re queer. Get used to it! This collection is an effort to honor those that came before us, celebrate those who are here now, and forge a more inclusive future for those who will come after us.
We will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the OUT Foundation, an organization that seeks to remove the barriers that block LGBTQ+ individuals access to and participation in health and wellness activities.
The popularization of disco music was interwoven with the rise of gay consciousness and the mainstreaming of the gay rights movement. Back in New York City in the 1970s, disco clubs provided a safe place for the gay community to dance together without fear of police action. Differences were not only tolerated at these early discos— they were celebrated. Disco culture made a call for racial and sexual liberation, and these calls live on in their musical legacy that still touches every corner of house and dance music today.
